Again (and I'm sorry if my exuberant appreciation of your work embarrasses you, being English and all), you've written a better version of what I tried to express in my recent article "Defending Buck Angel" https://uncommondiscourses.substack.com/p/defending-buck-angel-a-liberalpragmatic. I'm always disappointed (but not surprised anymore) when people I agree with on some topics (e.g., the vacuity of gender ideology) then turn out to be anti-liberal in others (the freedom for people to dress, present, and call themselves what they want). A theme on my Substack for the last year has been that accusations that gender critical people just don't like trans people are wrong; we just don't agree that dressing like/wanting to be/feeling you are a woman makes you one. Then people like the ones you've quoted come along and prove me sadly wrong--some of us clearly do just hate trans people (and now gay people as well! What the hell is happening?!).
Thanks again for being a voice of reason and sanity. I used to think that being a Left-Liberal was a common position; I'm saddened by how few of us there actually seem to be.
